I love in-home sessions so much! Especially for newborns, and twins…. it’s a no-brainer. Can you imagine being postpartum with twins and having to haul EVERYTHING out of the house for a session? Adding a toddler into the mix just makes the experience even more wild. 🙂
When I get to a client’s home I scope out the areas that they want to use first. This helps me to gauge what the lighting situation it. We start a session around 11am or 1pm for best natural lighting indoors. I want all the windows and blinds opened up. Rooms will be tidy-ish. I mean come one, you live there too right?! Hard to make it all spotless with children in the mix. We try to begin with allowing the older kiddos to warm up and then just dive in.
During a newborn session I try to get all adults giving the baby(ies) some cuddles and love. Any older siblings will get their change for snuggles as well (pending that they are big enough for that lol). I typically utilize a living room space, master bedroom and nursery for newborn sessions. I really enjoy how relaxed these sessions can be.
As far as outfits, just sticking with a more neutral/softer color palette will be the best option. This will help to not overwhelm the newborn skin tone with color and instead focus on the sweet details. Outside is a little different. Feel free to add color in those sessions!
Thanks for stopping by! I hope you get to snuggle something soft today! Love, Eileen
