We had a family session with Raegan from Clay House at the beginning of June, and let me tell you, she CRUSHED it! She always does. I have had a few boudoir sessions with her and a couples session. She’s the best.
We (I) was trying to get ready before the session and I was running low on fumes. If you don’t know this about me, well now you do: I get HANGRY. It’s like a switch too. One minute I am coasting along fairly well and the next minute I am shaky and irritable. I get it honestly (thanks pops 🙂 ). Well, I was getting frazzled and then our dog, who is normally pretty good, stole my steak off the counter. Like what?!? Rude. Anyway, we finally got out the door and I ate the leftover pieces of steak that my hubby had cut up for the kids (think tiny bite-sized pieces) and some green beans. Not typically enough to hold me over. Setting myself up for success here right?
When we arrived at the park a few minutes later I was giving myself a pep-talk “I’m fine, I’m ok, this is ok, I will be ok.” Hahahaha my husband was cracking up. We loaded Mazie up in the stroller and went on our way. And you know what, it was fine. It was more than fine. It was great! Raegan helped Web to open up so quickly, which he does not do often. He is a slow-to-warm-up kind of kid. As you can see in the images, he was a complete ham.
If I could give everyone a piece of advice for a family photo session, it would be this: just go with the flow. Seriously. If we get caught up in our heads about how our kids are behaving then we can quickly take the session downhill. Raegan did this well. I do this well. Kids are unpredictable and have big minds of their own.
Thanks for stopping by! Love, Eileen
