I met Morgan and Clayton back in September when they were both in the bridal party for a wedding I was photographing. Obviously the day was not focused on them, so when they hired me to be their photographer, I was thrilled! They were both so sweet and involved at Shannon and Chris’s wedding.
I like to arrive a little early to my sessions to scope out the scenery. It changes all the time, but at 100 Acres everything is pretty consistent. The only thing that had me slightly concerned was the ice and mud. The evening was chilly, but sunny and beautiful!
On my way into the park, a couple pointed out a Barred Owl right off the path. {I am slightly very embarrassed to even say this, but I was so excited (I LOVE birds of prey!), that I grabbed the first camera body my hand touched and snapped away. Well, I grabbed my 50mm not my 85mm and didn’t even think to change it (facepalm). Not a very great shot.} My husband laughed at me later when I told him all of that.
During our session, I was able to spend time getting to know Morgan and Clayton a little more. I love learning about people and discovering things that we share/might have in common. We talked about the bald eagles introduced to Eagle Creek Park, their relationship, wedding details, Shannon and Chris’s new dog… A few days later, I was driving to work and passed the reservoir and sitting on the ice was a BALD EAGLE! It took off right as I passed it. Did I mention that I love birds of prey? I know, it’s a strange thing.
Anyway, here are some of my favorites from our session:
